When to Harvest Carrots: June to September
How to grow Carrots:
Carrots prefer a sandy soil, stone etc may split the root.
Sow the seeds in rows 6 inch apart, carrots do not like being transplanted so it is suggested you only sow directly.
Thin as they to leave 2 inch gap between seedlings, be carefull when thinning, do not disturb the carrots too much and earth any up that are showing above the soil as this will attract carrot fly, a suggested method is to do this activity late evening or early morning when the flys are not active.
Keep the patch weed free, and moist to avoid roots from splitting or forking.
How to harvest Carrots:
Harvest the carrots when the roots are large enough, if the roots get to large you may loose some of the flavour. Lift carefull from the ground using a fork if necessary, avoid damage to the root and disturbance of carrots that are not to be removed.
